Momentum Design

To help others gain real-world design experience after their degree I founded Momentum Design in collaboration with LSBU as a way for students to provide freelance services under my supervision and guidance. I was the project manager that involved supporting between 2-6 students at any time, including interns from other universities, resulting in dozens of projects taken on by the group within the space of a year.

Whilst I didn’t focus on the design work myself, I felt it was important to include it within my portfolio due to the positive impact this group had on both the commercial clients and the students working for them. My role became supporting and advising students through the development of various different projects. Other responsibilities taken on by me were creating the website (which started out as a copy of this portfolio), sourcing the projects for the students to work on, creating briefs that the clients and students could rely on and managing the payment between the two parties.

Some public work included students managing and uploading content to the social media page of Momentum design. With lots of contributions and different ideas coming to life, this was a great place for students to share what they had worked on and what they were learning outside of the non-disclosure agreements in place with some of the clients coming into Momentum Design. 

After running the group for over an academic year, most students have managed to move to industry jobs thanks to the work that they created and executed through Momentum Design. It has been great to see their personal portfolios evolve and I will always look forward to assisting them in the future if they ever require it again.
